Beware of uninvited visitors, the slight slip of paper warned.
Sarah chuckled to herself: These fortunes keep getting weirder and weirder.
Staring out the open window, she crunched absently on the stale cookie,
never seeing the eight-legged enemy that tiptoed silently inside.

I love the humor in this. The creepy factor is excellent, and the protagonist perfectly oblivious.

She and I have something in common when it comes to bugs. I like to imagine they’re not there. :)

I imagine that’s nasty biting spider then. That’s the problem with fortunes, you never know when to take notice. Great how you incorporated so many elements into your story – text, thoughts, cookies, window gazing and the spider.
